It is a self-extracting zip archive. It is intended to simplify the process of getting VNC installed on a user's machine. When run, this file performs a number of operations: - Prompts the user to continue (OK) or quit (Cancel) - Extracts the files to %temp%\vnc - Runs the batch file 'install.bat' - The batch file: - Installs VNC silently (server components only) - Updates registry with common program settings and sets the password to '1234' - Executes the VNC server - Closes the DOS window - Once the batch file has finished execution, the installation files are deleted. The script is successful when the VNC icon appears in the system tray. You can now connect to the remote computer using VNC viewer, with the following details: VNC Server: :0 password: 1234 Connection Troubleshooting -------------------------- Having problems getting a connection? Try these troubleshooting tips: - Try pinging the hostname of the computer you are trying to connect to, to ensure you can talk to it over the network. - Verify the VNC server is running on the remote computer. There should be an icon in the system tray (a purple circle with a yellow 'V' inside). If it is not, try running the installer again. - Try connecting to the computer using the ip address instead of the hostname (not all computers use their it number as their hostname). To get the ip address, ping the it number or hostname. ie. In the vnc viewer connection screen instead of: :0, use :0 - If you can get a connection but the password is refused, get the user the re-enter the password by double-clicking on the system tray icon and re-entering the password in the 'password' text box.
